The Department of Musicology aims to train the Music Science Experts that our country needs. It provides the teaching of the methods and techniques necessary for the examination of music as an artistic and cultural phenomenon and cultural accumulation on the subject. Our department, which provides 4 years of Turkish education after the Special Aptitude Exams with its unique contents, has various courses organized within the framework of the Bologna Curriculum and distributed over a 4-year period. For graduation, the total of ECTS of all courses, compulsory and elective, must be at least 240.
Graduates of the Department of Musicology become musicologists. They specialize in written and visual media such as music writing, music criticism, program production, art assignments in public and private institutions, music instructor, folklore and ethnomusicology research. In addition, those who study in the field of Music Sciences can develop their expertise in line with their own special interests and orientations, and they can work in areas such as Music producer, Sound Designer, Arranger, Studio Musician etc. where the sound is processed industrially; They will have the opportunity to perform academic duties by increasing intellectually in the fields of Music Sociology, Music Philosophy, Cultural Musicology, Archeomusicology, etc.
